Risborough Daily News
2 Days ago, a sight was seen by late night drivers. A pheasant called Phillipa ( a very bright bird) had appeared in a lollipop lady outfit and was making traffic. All she was doing was helping the animals cross the road. Many of the people from Fairhurst came to watch Phillipa control the traffic. Everybody knows now that she was just trying to eat blackberries and it was our fault because we were driving too fast. Well with her being a lollipop lady it does slow us down. Phillipa has definitely achieved her goal. So well done!
We asked Phillipa many questions and to our surprise she talked! And some of the questions we asked were: How did you feel when you stepped onto the road? And how long are you going to do this job? She replied 'I wanted to make sure that every animal can cross safely'. We asked the Mayor what a fantastic idea to have a pheasant lollipop lady. Phillipa was very famous in Fairhurst. She couldn't let her animal friends be squashed pancake-flat so she risked her life for her friends she explained. But disaster struck the good village of Fairhurst! For the mayor's cat (Darling Treasure) was lost. But our amazing Phillipa saved her from being lost. And people rejoiced that Darling Treasure was found. And she is coming to the town hall now and waiting for her is her very own present.

Today a fire engine came to school, Mr Thomas showed us all around the fire engine, there was lots of equipment! There were fire hoses and tweezers. Did you know that one of the tweezers can cut open doors!
By Rueben Year 2
Today the fire engine came to school and the fire engine was good. The Fire Engine had a big tea making machine which made them cups
of tea! All of us counted, the fireman took 37 seconds to put his fireman suit on. The Fire Engine had two big ladders. We went to the right of the fire engine and the fireman had food for their lunch. The men put on big wellingtons. Finally, we got to see the flashing blue lights and that was the best part.

Today a fire engine came to school and the firemen said ‘hello’ and we were very excited. He showed us the fire engine, then he showed us a cupboard where it had lots of tools. A couple of minutes later he showed us the back of the fire engine, it was so cool. But the funniest bit was when he said ‘I used to be a magician’ and he pulled out a traffic cone, but it was cone that collapsed, it just folded up and down. Then Mr Thomas showed us the other side of the fire engine. It had this safety clip that went around his neck, so that if there was a big rescue and someone fell in the water and they would be supported. We really wanted him to spray the hose, unfortunately, they ran out of time. They saved the best until last because he showed us the back of the fire engine, which was amazing – he said ‘Do you want to see the lights?’ We all stood against the wall and he said goodbye and flashed the blue lights and sounded the siren.

Today a fire engine came to school and I saw all the lights turn on and off. We counted how long it took the fireman to get into his outfit and it took him 37 seconds. I learnt that in the olden days they had to use buckets, but now we can use hoses so we can make putting out fire quicker. There were lots of hoses! We saw a big and a small ladder. Class 2 had a lovely time meeting the fireman and we would like to thank them for coming to visit.

First we got on the coach and went to the synagogue. We had a tour outside and we looked at the doves. We went inside and took a look at the rainbow inside. We went in a another room and took a look at the Ark and the Torah Scroll in the Ark. We were talking about the Shabbat that it is on Sunday. Me and Samuel dressed up like Jewish Children. After that we looked at the Lego synagogue. Finally we had biscuits and water or juice. By Janae
The Year 5s beat Radnage 8-0 on Tuesday 28th January. Unfortunately, the pitch was very slippery however, we powered through. Our defence was very strong with Steven, me (David) and Mark rotating on and off. Goals were scored by me (Josh), Brody, Kaiden, Mark and Elliot. Logan also did some very good saves!! Year 5 enjoyed the match.

History of Toys - Year 1
Toys day was on Friday. We got to play with toys. My favourite part was when we were making toys. By Luca
First, we sat down and Fiona told us all about toys from all sorts of different places and ages. I (Bella) liked the hula hoops and sewing and I (Frankie) liked it when we built things out of paper. We went round different tables to look and play with the toys. by Bella and Frankie
Yesterday, Thursday 9th January, a hearing dog came to visit us, called Jessie. Before she arrived we watched a video about the dogs from a puppy to grown up, through puppy school. She came with Darcie and Fiona, to start with she came to each of us and we were allowed to stroke her. Fiona is Jessie's trainer 'Jessie tells Fiona about hearing' Darcie gave us lots of information about hearing dogs and about Jessie and her helping people. Jessie wore a special jacket that said Learning and Hearing Dog. She came to worship with us. She was nice and quiet. Jessie lies down when a fire alarm goes off to tell her owner that it has gone off. If the door rings Jessie goes to her owner and nudges her leg and then goes back to the front door!

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week Year 3 told the Nativity story at St Dunstan’s Church. It was quite good everyone did well. I was a narrator with lots of my friends. I enjoyed telling the story to the parents. It made me feel Christmassy and enjoyed singing the carols.
