This half term in Kestrels, the children are learning about plants in science and the learning will be driven by our half termly question 'Were the Ancient Greeks respectful people?'
We will be kick-starting the learning with an Ancient Greek Day - immersive experience when the children will take part in multiple activities that the Ancient Greeks would have carried out.
In English, the children will be reading Greek Myths, by Marcia Williams, a colourful depiction of a selection of Greek myths.
This Week's Learning w/c 16th March
Kestrels have had an exciting week, starting with a day of mental health activities, including yoga, on Monday.
This week has also seen some St Patrick's Day dancing with Miss Gaule where the children worked on unison (our gymnastics focus for this half term) and also our science investigation took place on Tuesday! We have planted violas so that we can decide what plants really need in order to thrive. The children learnt to use the vocabulary 'variable' and fair test and were all able to record their methods.
Week Commencing 23rd February
This week the children have started reading Greek Myths, by Marcia Williams. They all enjoyed our 'hook' lesson, in which we debated whether to open the treasure box that had been left on my desk, then read Pandora's Box and created our own Pandora's boxes.
On Tuesday, the children thoroughly enjoyed our Ancient Greek Day, where they were immersed in a plethora of different craft activities, including oil making for lamps, wax scribe pads and Ancient Greek drama.
