Primary timeline for entry in 2026
Children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 will be starting school in September 2026.
Children attending an infant school and born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019 will be moving up to junior school in September 2026.

September to December 2025 - open events
It’s important you find out about the schools you are interested in before you decide to put them on your application. You can list up to 6 schools when you apply.
Open events information is available on our school directory. Open events are the easiest way to see a school first hand. You may need to make an appointment.
5 November 2025 – applications open
You can apply for a primary school place (Reception or Year 3 at a Junior school)
2026
13 January - infant to junior transfer
Latest date to hand in a paper application to your child's infant school - 9am.
15 January deadline - Primary school applications close at midnight
Buckinghamshire residents have until midnight on this date to submit their online primary school application.
If you are not applying online through the portal, the paper application must reach us no later than 15 January.
All applicants must submit address evidence to accompany their application.
29 January is the latest date for moving into Buckinghamshire
The latest date for moving into Buckinghamshire (and providing evidence) for us to use this address, for the first round of allocations.
Some academies, foundation, free and voluntary-aided schools may have different deadlines.
16 April - National Offer Day
Parents who applied online will receive an email from 11am showing the outcome of their application.
From 2pm the portal will be open for parents to view and accept their offer.
Parents who did not apply through the portal will be emailed if an email address was provided.
If you did not provide an email address, then a letter will be sent to you, but this will be posted out on 16 April.
7 July - School Transition Day
Children usually visit their new school
