This half term we will be studying Aylesbury and learning about how we can be responsible in the wider community through our geography topic. We will be reading The BFG by Roald Dahl and writing our own recipes for snozzcumbers!
In maths we will be learning more formal methods of multiplication. Please see below for the knowledge organisers.
As usual, if you have any questions, please contact me via homelearning@monks.org.uk
Many thanks

This Week in Kestrels! w/c 24th November
This week Kestrels have been very busy learning about descriptive writing and trying to retrieve information from our class reader in order to write a report for the government about Giant Country!
In DT, the children learnt rolling and cutting skills and made their own jam tarts! They looked delicious!
This week in Kestrels the children carried out investigations into how water is transported in a plant using celery stalks and blue food dye - they loved it and could see very clearly that their investigation had been a success; Kestrels are budding scientists!
In English, the children began reading about the BFG and scoured the text for information about Sophie's character using our retrieval skills. In maths, the children continued their work on understanding multiplication using counters to create arrays.
This week in Kestrels Class the children have been continuing their learning of addition and subtraction using formal column methods. In science, they have also begun learning about plants and how roots function.
In Forest School sessions, the children made poppies to commemorate Remembrance Day, using natural resources.
