Stone Age

Our lead subject is History for our Stone Age topic this half term, where we study the changes in civilisation from the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We are aiming to answer the question 'Were the Stone Age people generous in their communities?' by the end of our learning journey.

We will be studying the following books throughout our learning. You may like to buy them to have a copy of your own but please don't read them until we have looked at them in school first... we don't want you to ruin any surprises!

This Week in Kestrels w/c 7th October

The children have had a very busy week in Kestrels. We learned about Stonehenge and made our own card henges!

In English, we have learned how to identify verbs, subjects and to punctuate independent clauses correctly. In maths, we have moved on to addition and subtraction and have been working hard to develop our methods of partitioning in ones, tens and hundreds.

In RE this week, we reeenacted the Hindu story of Rama and Sita.

This Week in Kestrels Class w/c 23rd September

We had yet another successful week in school, working hard and continuing our learning.

The children have been covering place value and number in maths, manipulating increasingly large numbers and demonstrating their ability to reason and explain when encountering problem solving questions.

In English, the children have enjoyed learning about regular and irregular verbs and recapping our different types of nouns (with actions!)

Science was especially exciting this week, the children loved using chocolate bars to improve their understanding of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks.

EDL was the highlight of the week. Kestrels class welcomed many visitors into the classroom and learned Chinese, Dutch and German
