The first week of March was exciting at Monks Risborough School because it was Book Week! First, we enjoyed the story ‘Bloom.’ Then, we pressed flowers, wrote instructions for how to make a seed ball for the old man in the book, and made covers for our instruction writing. We swapped books to take home, we read our own books, and we dressed up as our favourite characters from books! We’ve had a mystery reader some days. This meant that someone read to us and we had to guess who it was! Nobody guessed who the readers were but we thought it was one of our parents! It was such a pleasure to have them read to us. We also made 2D and 3D shapes in Maths. From Red Kites xxx
Please note that school will be closed today - Friday 18th February - due to the severe weather caused by Storm Eunice. All Bucks schools have been advised to close due to the danger posed by the strong winds. Teachers are currently working to upload learning activities to the Google Classroom - there will be no live lessons.
Please take care and stay safe. Have a lovely half-term break next week.
Well done to our Year 5 & 6 Girls football teams who took part in a friendly tournament against Disraeli school. The girls showed great team spirit and competed brilliantly. A particular well done to Monks Red team who finished second out of the four teams that took part.

Wishing all Monks Risborough School community and the greater community of Monks Risborough a Merry Christmas & Happy, Healthy, New Year!
Year 5 took part in a Tag-Rugby festival at Princes Risborough Secondary School on Tuesday. The competition was tough but the children enjoyed themselves and played some great rugby.
A massive well done to our Year 6 boys football team who came desperately close to beating Longwick. Trailing 1-0 at half time, Monks came out fighting in the second half. Despite almost finding an equaliser on two occasions, Monks found themselves 3-0 down. But two quick goals from Lucas Hunter and Jake Gibbs turned the game on its head. Pushing forward for the equaliser left the team exposed at the back and Longwick found the killer goal to win 4-2. Great game Monks. Looking forward to the next one!

A huge well done to our Year 5 football team who made the long journey to Burford Primary School, near Marlow, to play them in the Year 5 cup competition. Despite a brave and committed performance, they lost 4-0. Better luck next time boys!
