This half term our main topic is entitled 'Great Fire of London.' With a focus on history, we are going to learn about how and why the fire started. This topic will link to our DT, where we will be building fire engines and comparing them to the fire engines they would have used in 1666. We will have a visit from a REAL fire engine. During the term we will also be taking part in a historical Great Fire of London day, where we will learn what it felt like to live in 1666 through this immersive and practical experience. The children will learn the issues of the time, with the opportunity to participate in a range of cross-curricular and crafts. The children may keep the items they make.
In science we will explore 'materials' and how the type of material the houses were built from in 1666 aided the spread of the Great Fire of London.
In mathematics we will continue our journey in Multiplication and Division and then move into measure.
Our RE focus will be the Easter Story - looking a this important event in the Christian calendar.
In English, our focus book will be Vlad and the Great Fire of London by Kate and Sam Cunningham. This story looks at this historical event through the eyes of a character called Boxton and his friend Vlad.
