On the 16th of October we went on a church trail in Princes Risborough. The churches we went to were St. Teresa's the Baptists and St. Mary’s.
St. Teresa's
In St. Teresa's we learnt about the Sanctuary Lamp which reminds us that God is always here. There are enormous domes that keep the heat in. There are 14 pictures of Jesus's last day that are beautiful gold leaf paintings.
The Baptists
At the Baptists we saw Mrs Hirst there she told us that the hole in the floor is a baptistry and there are beams to cover it up. There’s a balcony that you can see all of the bottom level of the church. We were given a biscuit and juice at the start to keep our brains going. We got to do a very interesting scavenger hunt about the church.
St. Mary's
The altar has 2 massive candles on top. Did you know there’s a secret mark called the bishop's mark. This is an old church. One of the main things they do is holy communion on a Sunday morning. They use wafers, made out of water and flour, and wine. The font has an old sink in it that they use for baby baptisms.
My favourite church was the Baptists because Mrs Hirst was there and all the facts were so fascinating.
