Monks Risborough CE Primary School

Right to withdraw from RE

At Monks Risborough CE Primary School, we follow the statutory requirements for Religious Education (RE) as part of the National Curriculum. RE is an important part of our broad and balanced curriculum, providing children with opportunities to learn about different religions, worldviews, and cultural traditions.

We understand that parents and carers may hold personal beliefs regarding RE. As outlined in the Education Act 1996 and the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of RE lessons if they choose.

If you are considering withdrawing your child from RE, we kindly ask that you discuss this with your child's class teacher. This will allow us to understand your concerns, share details of the curriculum, and discuss practical arrangements to ensure your child is appropriately supervised during the withdrawn time.

If you have any questions about the RE curriculum or wish to request a withdrawal, please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with the class teacher.
