Our first topic in Year 5 is a Science led topic, all about Life Cycles. By the end of the half-term, children will have reflected and be able to consider an answer to our values question: "Who has to persevere most in their life cycle: birds, mammals, amphibians or insects?"
We will be starting our Place Value of Punctuation and Grammar lessons in English, linking with our class text, Charlotte's Web. E.B. White’s classic 1952 novel Charlotte's Web tells the heartwarming story of an unlikely friendship between a little pig named Wilbur and a wise barn spider named Charlotte.
In Maths, we will be learning numbers up to 1,000,000, comparing, rounding and ordering them using our knowledge of Place Value. We then will move onto Addition and Subtraction, adding and subtracting whole numbers of up to four digits, using the inverse to check our answers.
