Equality Objectives

Equality Duty Compliance Report 2019

Eliminating Discrimination
The School has in place a range of policies that are widely shared with staff and governors (and available to parents on request or via the School website) that ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and thus ensure that discrimination is avoided and that equality of opportunity is promoted. This helps to ensure that every child matters and that every child can have life in all its fullness (John 10:10). These policies include:

  • Anti-Bullying Policy
  • Anti-Racism Policy
  • Behaviour Policy
  • Collective Worship Policy
  • Equality and Diversity Policy
  • Religious Education Policy
  • Special Educational Needs Policy
  • Other policies also comply with the Act

The school’s Christian values are constantly referred to reinforce the practical applications of the above policies

Advancing Equality of Opportunity
School leaders and the curriculum committee regularly analyse attainment data, behaviour records, and participation rates in extra-curricular clubs to evaluate the impact of the above policies on groups of pupils to ensure equality of opportunity for all children. The standards of attainment of almost all groups of pupils are at least in line with national averages for all pupils, with many significantly above average.

Fostering good relations across all characteristics
The School arranges a range of activities and events to promote tolerance and friendships, to develop understanding of different cultures and religions and to ensure involvement with local communities:

  • Visits to places of worship (Mosque, Synagogue, Mandir)
  • Visits to the school by leaders of other faiths
  • Visits into the community – local nursing homes, pre-school groups
  • Support of local charities – sheltered accommodation, vulnerable adults
  • Support of global charities
  • Shared work with other schools
  • Competitive and non-competitive sporting matches with other schools
  • Making links with schools both overseas and within the UK
